I have recently added some new original artwork to my website. Last summer during lockdown I bought a new camera with a telephoto lense and I became obsessed with birds! so inevitably there are quite a few birds in these paintings. I had three visits to Westray to photograph the gannet colony at Noup head and the painting Diving Gannets – www.janeglue.com is one of the images produced from that visit. I loved the way that the gannets dived and swooped amongst the waves and cliffs and I think this painting conveys this. Gannets abstract – www.janeglue.com was also inspired by these wonderful birds. Other bird paintings such as Redshank abstract – www.janeglue.com , Oystercatchers abstract – www.janeglue.com and Crow abstract – www.janeglue.com are also inspired by my love of birds. I have used a mixture of acrylics and collage to create texture which gives a lovely textural touch feel to the paintings. Each of these paintings come framed in a wide washed wood moulding which I think compliments the image. I deliberately have not used glass over these images as I think it is lovely to feel the texture but they do have a protective varnish on them. Textured sunset – www.janeglue.com and Orange sunset – www.janeglue.com are both acrylic landscapes, both are unframed but can be framed on request. Fishing boat abstract – www.janeglue.com is a smaller painting again using collage and acrylics. I particularly liked the colours in the boat reflections. Weaving waves – www.janeglue.com is something different for me! My studio in Kirkwall is based next to The Loom Room, a local weaving studio and I was inspired to do this weaving of a woven Orkney landscape. This image comes framed with glass to protect the weaving. Seashore – www.janeglue.com is a large watercolour which has recently been re framed, the shoreline has always fascinated me, especially the textures and patterns of the sand and seaweed. Fisherman's abstract – www.janeglue.com is another large original, beautifully framed with a light wide wood moulding. I have used lots of textured papers in this image which depicts my favourite boat, The Michael J, a wooden hulled fishing boat which works out of Kirkwall harbour.
