I think that Spring is one of those special times of year in Orkney. The sun rises earlier and the light stretches longer into our evenings producing those special colours that I like to paint so much. In Kirkwall and Stromness the garden birds are busy building nests in the stone dykes, bushes and trees. Out at The Brough of Birsay, Westray and many other sites, migrating birds have arrived after their long journeys over the sea. New beautiful velvet cushions, affordable jewellery, magnets and bone china mugs have now been added to my on line shop!

I have some new products now on my website! Beautiful velevet cushions portraying my designs have been launched in two sizes. Both come with a design printed on the front and a plain back. Each cushion is filled with duck feathers in a removable inner and have a side zip finished with a heart.

Taking a large A2 sheet of white cartridge paper I began by drawing the picture in a fairly realistic way using soft pastels, taking care to leave the paper white for the white areas and using lighter colours of pastels for the light tones in the picture.
