An original soft pastel painting by Orkney artist Jane Glue

Kirbuster farm museum is situated on the west mainland of Orkney. The museum consists of a group old traditional farm buildings including the main house which has this beautiful interior. On the day I visited the peat fire was lit and the room smelt of peat fumes. The sun shone through the old flagstone roof lighting up the room full of smoke. Hanging from the ceiling is a simmon or rope made from straw and on the hearth sat two griddles where 'bere' bannocks would have been cooked in years gone by.

This quite abstract painting is painted with soft pastels. I have tried to convey the atmosphere I felt on the day I visited.

This picture is mounted with a 60mm ivory mount, framed and glazed in an oak wood moulding 35mm wide/ 12mm deep. The overall size is 750X570mm.
