Original painting/Women through the years

An original mixed media painting by Orkney artist Jane Glue.

Framed and glazed in a white wood box moulding, 30X30mm. The overall size framed is 530X530mm including a 60mm ivory mount.

This painting is of the inside of an interior of an old house which is near Yesnaby cliffs in Orkney. I am fascinated by memories. In the livingroom lay two worn armchairs and an upright piano and chair infront of the window looking out towards the sea. I thought about all the women who had lived in the house over the years so I have incorporated old photos to represent them. There is one modern woman, peeping through the right handside of the window, she is Amy Liptrot, Orkneys well known novelist. She wrote 'The Outrun' which has recently been made into a feature film.

 I have used vintage wallpaper, gesso, acrylic paint, gold leaf and 'found' miniature frames to build up a multi layered affect in this painting.
