Jane studied at Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen 1975-76 and Harrow School of Art, London from 1982-85, graduating with an HND in Art and Design/Illustration.
Jane then returned home and worked as a freelance illustrator until opening her gallery in 1987 in Kirkwall, later moving to the village of Finstown until 2015.
Since 2019 Jane has worked from her studio at The Creative hub, Hatston, Kirkwall.

1985-2015 Many private commissions including paintings commissioned for the The Orcadian newspaper and Highland Park visitor centre.
1987 A set of b/w drawings for Catherine Browns Scottish cookery and a book cover for George Mackay Brown’s ‘Magnus’ and Naomi Mitchison’s ‘Orcadia’ all published by Richard Drew publishers.
1986-Twelve full colour Illustrations for the children’s book ‘Sheldra’ by Theresa Hedges, based around the neolithic Tomb of the eagles in South Ronaldsay, Orkney.
