More about Orkney artist Jane Glue

My love affair with art began as young as four! as my twin sister, Judith and myself always drew and made 'things' from an early age. I had always wanted to make a living from my painting so after graduating in 1985 from Art college in London, I returned home to kickstart my career. I had already been selling my paintings since I was fifteen and as my return home coincided with the growth in Orkney tourism it was a natural development for me to open my own gallery 'Shorelines Gallery' which was initially at the back of my twin sister Judith Glue's' shop opposite St Magnus cathedral in Kirkwall and later at 39 Albert st, Kirkwall and finally in Finstown where I also had a teaching studio and workshop. As a sole trader running a gallery full time didn't leave me as much time as I would have liked to pursue my passion of painting so I sold my gallery in 2015 and moved to my studio at Supporting Creativity in Orkney – Orkney Creative Hub CIC , Hatston outside Kirkwall. I now have a lot more freedom and flexibilty as there is nothing better than spending a day at my favourites haunts such as The Brough of Birsay or Rackwick on the island of Hoy, however you are welcome to visit me anytime, just e mail me ahead of your visit to make sure I am at my studio at jane@janeglue.com
