I am very pleased to announce that my original painting 'Stromness lane' has been accepted into the 2025 Highland Art Prize exhibition in conjuction with the National Mod. Seventy artworks have been selected from fifteen different Highlands and Islands Arts organisations and are on display at McCallum Art House in Fort William from fri 10th-sat 18th October. My artwork is showing along with two other selected Orkney artists that are members of Creative Orkney. A shortlist will be selected by this years judges Beth Robertson Fiddes and Donnie Munro and the prize giving will take place on Fri 17th October with prozes provided by the Highland Society of London, Wasps Studio's, Cass Art and The Highland Soap co.
My painting 'Stromness lane' was painted in mixed media including collage consisting of vintage newspaper for the paving stones and a 1970's book cover for the tin roof. Hidden in the doorway is a lady knitting. Orkneys second biggest town of Stromness is full of these quaint lanes lined with houses and paving stones which make for a perfect painting subject!
