A limited edition print/Viking Whalebone plaque, Sanday

A limited edition print from an original mixed media painting by Orkney artist Jane Glue.

The Viking whalebone plaque or Scar plaque was found in 1991 during the excavation of the Scar boat burial on the island of Sanday in Orkney. The original plaque can be seen in Tankerness house museum in Kirkwall. This picture on canvas was created by adding gesso, sand and tiny shells to the paint. The replica plaque is made from cardboard.
