Limited edition print/Gan fir Spoots in Birsay, Orkney

A limited edition print from a watercolour painting by Orkney artist Jane Glue
printed on C-Type Matt paper in two editions of 100 prints.

 Spoots are the Orkney name for Razor clams. The outer shell is very long and protects the white body inside. I have personal memories of 'gan fir spoots' with my dad, he used a long thin knife to poke into the sand while walking backwards. It is quite a skill! You can see a man walking backwards while collecting spoots in this image.
