Original mixed media painting/Winter Storm

A large framed  original mixed media painting by Orkney artist Jane Glue.

The view in this painting is of looking towards the island of Copinsay from Dinghieshowe beach in Deerness on a wild winters day. Dinghieshowe is a bit of a secret shoreline as the beach sits behind high sand dunes which lie on the side of the main Deerness to Tankerness road. I really like all the textures and colours in this image which were created by using a mix of ink, watercolours and added collage. I have added collage from an old Orkney map to represent the moody clouds in the sky along with the deep blue shades of watercolour paint. The cow parsley and other fauna and flora in the foreground has been drawn delicately in pen and ink and in the middle section are the white breakers of waves and sea spume. 

This picture is painted on to a large sheet of 300IB weight 'Two Rivers' handmade watercolour paper which has a lovely surrounding rough deckled edge. 

The overall size of this framed painting is 950X730mm. It has been framed using a wide white wood bevelled moulding 65mm wide and 40mm deep. I have used perspex instead of glass for the glazing because of the size and weight of the picture, this also makes postage much easier. The actual image size is 770X560mm with a 15mm ivory mount board surround.
