A limited edition print from an original mixed media painting by Orkney artist Jane Glue in three sizes of 100 print runs.
The Viking whalebone plaque was found in 1991 during the excavation of the 'Scar boat burial' on the island of Sanday. This original beautifully carved whalebone plaque can be seen at Tankerness house museum in Kirkwall. I created this artwork by first forming a replica plaque with mountboard and gluing it to a canvas along with beach sand, shells and gravel. The image has been painted in acrylics and finished by adding round 'ogham' shape cut from silver metal during a jewellery evening class I attended a few years ago.
