Original painting /Forgotten picnic

An original mixed media unframed painting by Orkney artist Jane Glue.

The idea for this original artwork started with an old photograph of a group of women on a picnic early in the 20th century. Surrounding the women who were actually sitting in an up turned boat, is the Orkney landscape with the hills of Hoy in the background. I have added in quite a few 'found' items into this painting including pieces of pottery and sea glass found on the Orkney shoreline. The silver sun in the sky is an old tin lid.
