One of my favourite 'secret' places in Orkney is Happy valley at Bigswell, Stenness. Although the cottage is now empty since the wonderful Edwin Harold passed away a few years ago, it  has been very respectively renovated by a local community trust and the garden and woods are still open to the public all year round.
