An original watercolour painting by Orkney artist Jane Glue
I am donating £50 from the sale of this painting to the Multiple Sclerosis society. Orkney has the highest cases of MS in the world. Research is a very important way of finding out why this is and I feel it is a very worthy cause. To find out more go to MS Society UK | Information, research and support | MS Society
This original was painted as a poster design when I was a student at art college in London many years ago. I spent several days visiting Boardhouse mill in Birsay painting the mill and Fergus who was the miller, finally creating this poster as part of my final project in 4th year. You will notice that there is some text overlay on the image, this is printed on acetate and can be removed but I left it attached as I thought it gave a nice story to the overall image. The images have been painted using ink and watercolour paint and although unframed, there is a cream mount surrounding the painting.
The painting is on watercolour paper which has been dry mounted on to mountboard. The mount itself is slightly marked. I would recommend if you were going to frame this picture to have it remounted leaving the hand painted black edging and it would look as good as new! Also underneath the acetate writing you can see a light blemish, personally I would probably leave the writing on the picture as it covers this but having said that it may be okay, I just didn't want to touch it as I thought it was better to leave it as it is.
Overall size including the cream mount is 600X430mm.
