WW2 ruins, Flotta
A limited edition print from a mixed media painting by Orkney artist Jane Glue
printed on C-Type Matt
There are still a lot of WW2 ruins in Orkney. This old gun implacement is in Flotta which was a WW2 base. It is hard to believe that there were thousands of troops living here then. This picture was painted on a gorgeous Spring day and I was lucky enough to see a few dolphins swimming along the coastline. A lot of the WW2 buildings were knocked down after the war but some are still left all over Orkney. They were originally built to protect the then naval base of Scapa flow.
