A limited edition print of an acrylic painting by Orkney artist Jane Glue
printed on C-Type Matt paper in an edition of 100 prints.
Dr John Rae was a famous Orcadian explorer. The original of this print was painted on a piece of 'found' driftwood. The image depicts John Rae walking across the Arctic snow in his snow shoes with his dogs. Sir John Franklin's lost ship, the 'Erebeus' lies in the ice in the distance. It was Dr John Rae who discovered the fate of Franklin's last voyage and reported back to Lady Jane Franklin the news that cannabilism had taken place much to the annoyance of Lady Franklin and the British navy who moved to blacken John Rae's reputation for the rest of his life.
