Forgotten pantry on the Island of Swona in Orkney
A mixed media painting by Orkney artist Jane Glue
printed on C-Type Matt
I have only visited the uninhabited Island of Swona once and it was fantastic! The island is quite difficult to get too so all the old houses have remained as partial ruins. This particular house even had household items still in the kitchen pantry . The last couple to live there left in the 70's because of ill health but there are still a herd of wild cows living happily on the island. I used lots of old papers, watercolours and ink to create this picture.
