Original artwork/Trinket type set tray

An original artwork by Orkney artist Jane Glue.

This vintage wooden type set box which was used in the printing trade to store metal text for block type set has been filled with a range of individual small artworks. Each separate background space is filled with vintage book paper, a vintage 1930's photograph, vintage victorian scraps and my own small paintings. Attached to some of the backgrounds are vintage brooches, a heart shaped one of 'The Old man of Hoy', a beautiful jewelled butterfly, a gold sun full of coloured glass stones and a glittery silver and emerald name brooch which says 'Mother'. Other items include a small silver spoon, an old vintage cotton reel, vintage buttons and a 1950's perspex shape from a necklace. The lefthand side edge has been coated with gold leaf and there is a hanger in the middle of the back so you can easily hang this artwork on your wall. There are even a few spaces left for you to add your own special trinkets and memories!  

The overall size is 300X285mm by 30mm deep.
